Advanced features on Veloteq 2007 and 2008 models add a whole new dimension to electric bicycles as an alternative means of low-cost, pollution-free local transportation....

We are ushering in our new model year with a host of the latest technology upgrades that are guaranteed to insure you a smoother and safer ride.  Drawing on years of experience with Honda, our engineers have incorporated features normally found only only very high end motorcycles.

The BLDC (brushless dc motor) incorporates a high performance rare earth neodymium/boron (NIB)) permanent magnet, outer-rotor direct drive wheel, and a automatic transmission featuring efficiency, energy economy, long life, and no maintenance noise-free operation.  Boron, a non-conductor, replaces iron (ferrite) material which is a good conductor of heat, reducing motor overheating.

The central controller performs the functions of electric motor drive, battery under-voltage protection, cross current protection and speed limiting, automatic braking power kill, power storage display, speed governor and transmission control. The system is integrated with the gearless accelerator to regulate speed.   These fully integrated functions insure safe and reliable operation under all road conditions.  All power systems are protected by a government certified and CE Approved circuit breaker.  Veloteq ebikes do not not rely on fuses for protection.

Total Power System Design

Veloteq electric bicycles are designed specifically for the North American market, unlike other models available that are merely improvisations on old, low power designs intended for use on other countries.   They speak quality throughout, what you expect and deserve from vehicles intended for on road use.

More to come.
Auto-Torque,
Auto-Transmission

We use the most recently designed, very high efficiency brushless DC motors constructed of the highest quality materials that are currently available.

The motor is the one of the most important components our power and electrical systems.  Combined with our power supply which is rated for continuous use for two years or more with four 20Ah batteries and high power handling controller it is optimized to deliver the maximum speed allowed by law in the US and Canada enabling greater grade climbing ability and an outstanding travel range of over 50 miles (80 kms).

The combination of the power supply, controller and motor is the key to insuring that you will receive maximum performance under all road conditions and long life and reliability of the power system.

16-3.0 wide-tires mounted on polished alloy wheels offer better traction and smoother, better controlled turning.  These are the same outer diameter as those used on 18" electric bicycle wheels but give better road performance.

Advanced Suspension Systems

A-arm suspension systems are used on the front end, as opposed to the commonly seen telescoping suspension.  This permits the front wheel to rock in response to rough roads and affords greater mobility while turning or swerving.  Instead of putting all of the stress on the suspension arm and the frame it brings the entire front end into play insuring a safer ride.  This design in usually seen only on high-end motorcycles.  The Cougar XR7 uses hydraulic reverse telescoping front suspension which reduces shock and frame stress by absorbing it at the wheel base, not the top of the suspension arm.

The rear suspension arm is vertically oriented, not raked backwards from the frame.  The suspension arm absorbs the weight of the ebike and rider downwards instead of at an angle, cushioning the ride and relieving stress on both the arm and ebike frame.  A line between the angle formed by a line from the upper arm attachment to the ground and the upper arm attachment angle to the ground is called the "trail".   The shorter the distance is, the less the stress on both the suspension arm and the frame, resulting in a smoother, better controlled ride.

Try a simple experiment.  With a hand held level in front of you poke straight up to the palm of your hand.  Then poke the same spot at a 45o angle.  Repeat this poking from smaller angles.  You will feel very little stress when you poke straight up.  When you poke at an angle you will feel great stress on the finger joints which passes to the wrist and further up the arm.  This is how the telescoping suspension works.

Brake System

Veloteq 2007 ebikes use  high quality cushioned motorcycle drum brakes to guarantee smooth and quick braking under all weather conditions.  They will bring your ebike to a stop within eight feet at the maximum permitted speed of 20 mph (32 kmh).  They exceed all requirements for bicycle brake systems under CPSC regulations and also those of the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act for motorcycles.

It is not always necessary to use the brakes to reduce speed, releasing the cruise control if it is engaged or if not simply releasing the throttle will automatically reduce speed.  While coasting or braking power is generated which flows back into the power supply to increase range or compensate for power used by electrical accessories.

Frame and Fairings

Veloteq ebike fairings (body parts) have a high-gloss, scratch-resistant enamel finish that requires little maintenance other then the care you choose to give them to keep them shining.  They are securely fastened to the frame underneath to prevent breakage when you encounter bumps or a rocky road.  Fairings are motorcycle grade.

The welded steel frame is made to motorcycle standards.  It is rust-treated to deliver a lifetime of use and carries a 5-Year Warranty.

Side view mirrors have long arms and are fully adjustable to permit you to see the road behind you, not just yourself.  You can aim them in or aim them out to suit your height or where you prefer to sit.

Instrument Panel & Cruise Control

Backlit instrument panel with speedometer and odometer

The instrument panels on Veloteq 2007 models feature a large, backlighted display for nighttime operation, a speedometer calibrated in miles per hour and kilometers per hour, a 5 digit odometer,  turn signal and headlight indicators, and a power supply level indicator.  The headlights and taillight turn on automatically when the power key is in the ON position.  Ample power is provided by the large power system and dynamic power regeneration.

Cruise control is fully automatic.  Maintaining the throttle position for 6 seconds activates the cruise control for the speed selected.  It is automatically deactivated by a momentary depression of either the front or rear brake handle.  You do not have to maintain hand and wrist pressure to travel at your desired speed.

Lighting Systems

Large rear taillight, brake light and turn signals.

Large rear tail lights, brake lights and turn signals insure that will always be seen from behind and to the sides while riding at night.  Wheel reflectors together with a front end reflector and large bright headlights make you visible from all around.

Total Security

Veloteq 2007-2008 models incorporate a two-tiered system for protection against theft or tampering with your ebike.  Some people may want to steal it and you can see why. All Veloteq ebikes have a locking steering column and an ear piercing alarm system to ward off theft.
